Blog # 5:
" When the well's dry, we know the worth of water." ~ Benjamin Franklin, (1706-1790), Poor Richard's Almanac.
This quote is saying that you never really appreciate what you have until it's gone. I agree with this quote. In modern day America, many people are given the daily conveniences of electricity, air conditioning, cars, running water, etc. Because these resources are constantly available, many Americans take them for granted, and consider them to be basic necessities, instead of the luxuries that they are. The reality is that many countries all over the world are experiencing poverty, and cannot afford to get such amenities. Americans and other well off countries should really take the time to appreciate what they have.

I still have not figured out how to insert images...sigh..so I suppose you will have to just copy/paste the links..sorry

Reflection: The past 2 weeks have been pretty good. I've just been playing soccer, going to school, working on debate, and hanging out with friends. I have a TON of projects and tests coming up... so that is just bundles of fun. Pre-AP classes are much more time consuming than I imagined. On a happier note, Halloween is next weekend, which I am VERY excited about. There truly is no better holiday than collecting candy from strangers while in costume.

  1. yes in our time right now we can value water more but in Benjamin franklins time he saw water as a source of life thogh so it wasnt even a luxury to him.

  2. Claire,
I agree with what you wrote. Sometimes it's hard, though, to remember how lucky we Americans are. I sure am glad to live in the United States. :) Ugh... Yes we have a bunch of tests coming up... :(
